Jennifer Wanner is a Canadian visual artist based in Calgary, Alberta, who holds a BFA in Drama from the University of Calgary (1995), a BFA with distinction in Visual Arts from the Alberta College of Art and Design (1999), and an MFA from The University of Western Ontario (2009). She has been awarded grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and Calgary Arts Development. Wanner’s work is included in the permanent collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Royal Bank of Canada, Scotia Bank, and private collections.

 

Wanner has exhibited her work in solo, group shows, and film festivals in Poland, Portugal, Spain, and across Canada. Wanner has had solo and two person exhibitions at Glenbow Museum, Tom Thomson Art Gallery, University of Lethbridge Art Gallery, Two Rivers Gallery, Okotoks Art Gallery, Dunlop Art Gallery, and Red Museum + Art Gallery. Her work was included in the 2013 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Alberta and the Glenbow Museum’s exhibition Made in Calgary: The 2000s. The animation Bower was screened in 2021 at three international festivals: Animac International Film Festival of Animation in Catalonia, Spain; the Photophobia: Contemporary Moving Image Festival, co-presented by the Art Gallery of Hamilton and Hamilton Artists Inc.; and the GIRAF 17 Festival of Independent Animation in Calgary, Alberta. From 2017 – 19 Wanner’s work toured Alberta with the Alberta Foundation for the Arts’ travelling exhibition program TREX. Jennifer Wanner is represented by the Paul Kuhn Gallery
